Delivering world-class trains, with world-class service
Hitachi Rail Europe, Ltd. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd. and is a total railway system supplier offering rolling stock, traction equipment, signalling, traffic management systems and maintenance centres.
Our Global Head Office is located in Central London and we currently operate from project offices across the UK, several depot locations and our new state-of-the-art rail vehicle manufacturing facility in Newton Aycliffe. Our Class 395 Javelin trains currently in operation on the HS1 route have proven our capability in the UK, based on a blend of British and Japanese technical expertise.
The Intercity Express Programme, Abellio ScotRail franchise and contracts with First Group for their West of England and Transpennine routes will see our teams deliver over 200 new trains over the next two years. We are now looking to expand our operations further to build upon our global reputation for quality, reliability, innovation, design and technological leadership.
Hitachi Rail Europe is an equal opportunities employer and we welcome all applications, we are also a member of the WISE campaign which inspires girls and women to study and build careers using science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM).

Makoto (Sincerity): We should act with integrity in all we say and do, this shows that we are sincere in holding to our stated values. We maintain fairness in all our dealings; our reputation is founded on how we go about our business.

Hitachi Rail’s Gender Pay Report for the UK
The publication of Hitachi Rail’s gender pay report for the UK reflects the importance of diversity and inclusion to our own plans for business growth. Our sector is characterised by a predominance of male employees and, if we are to meet the demands of a modern railway, we must introduce people new to the industry from a multitude of backgrounds and possessing different skills. Equally importantly, greater diversity enables us to create the best, most innovative products and services for our customers and the wide cross-section of passengers they serve.
Having calculated our gender pay report using the reporting regulations, Hitachi Rail in the UK is providing fair and equal pay for our people. We will continue to strive for our goals for a more diverse workforce and to ensure that our business and all our stakeholders share in the many benefits this will deliver.
